Some More Good Champagne for the Wine Rack
We have had a lot to celebrate in the last week. My sister is graduating for high school with high honors, she received a scholarship, and I finally landed a full time job. All this meant champagne has been free flowing all week.Since the wine rack was becoming a little bare, we picked up a bottle of Korbel Natural’. I have had their champagne in the past and decided to try this type I had not seen before. It is made up of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay grapes.
According to the label it is a very dry, delicate champagne. The cool location of the grapes is supposed to give the champagne its unique crisp, fruit centered style. I definitely enjoyed it. We consumed it with a heavy dinner which probably was not the best idea. I do, however, plan to purchase it again in the future for my wine rack.

Having to Go to the Liquor Store to Fill Up a Wine Rack
With all my travels I have come to learn all states have different liquor and beer/wine laws. Here in Washington State we can by wine or beer anywhere but have to purchase hard liquor from state governed liquor stores. I don’t really like this practice because they don’t have a very good selection some times. In California, they have much more liberal laws. Any store can sell liquor. Some grocery stores even have their own brands of alcohol. Since there are so many stores carrying liquor, there is a much bigger selection to be had. California also doesn’t tax alcohol as heavily as they do up here. Sometimes you can find bottles down there for up to 50% less.
What brought this up is an article I ran into online. Apparently in New York you have to go to liquor stores to buy wine even though you can buy beer anywhere. People are trying to overturn this law. I can imagine this being a real pain especially if you were trying to locate something special. Well I hope New Yorkers will get the law rewritten in their favor so they can fill up their wine racks easier.
